Server Wipe!

I’ve been having so many ridiculous problems with the server that it’s not even funny, everything kept fucking up and I think the database got corrupted, so I ended up wiping all the data.

Other than that, it’s running 10 times faster than it was before, barely any lag anymore and everything seems to work fine, and no bad corrupted data, we had tons before.

I could’ve kept user accounts but I had to wipe them too due to another problem, you’ll just have to re-register your accounts.

Anyway, the new server is running on port 9002 instead of the previous 9000, this was done for an experiment but I’m keeping it as 9002 for now.

If connecting using the regular “secondlife.d2k5.com” doesn’t work, you may try:
d2k5s1.sytes.net
erika.hurrchan.net

Port changed to 9002

Will write more later, server got fucked

Grid is back up as of 25/05/2010

The ports are now set to 9000, look at the “How to Join” for the new information.
Some things may still be broken, I also had minor data loss while trying to get this working (terrain went missing for example).

More Updates!

I noticed that after last nights upgrade, I had screwed lots of stuff up, it wasn’t running in grid mode or anything, I don’t know how or why it even worked in the first place, but everything was bugged up because of that.

Anyway, I’ve fixed that now, got it all running nicely, we also have money now, you get $200 when you first log in, and you can pretty much do whatever you want with it, but you can’t buy any more, and we’re not going to use real money for this, so I’m just gonna make some in-game lotteries and something, and maybe a bank where you can store your money and take out loans.

Another good way to earn money is make objects and sell them, the first thing I’m selling is a store right at the spawn, it costs $100 and you can use it for whatever you want, and it’s right next to my free item shop too.

It might say that it costs $10 to upload a texture but it actually doesn’t cost anything, you’ll be able to upload just fine.

I also set the region and user servers to run at the highest priority (realtime) so moving between regions and such should be a lot faster now.

Anyway, here’s a changelog from the top of my head:
[FIX] Grid Mode
[FIX] Uploading
[FIX] Appearance handling (by server)
[ADD] Money
[CHANGE] Map generation (looks better and more detailed this way)

Server upgrades!

I’ve upgraded the server from 0.6.6 to 0.6.8, it seems a lot faster and better to me already, and it has a service to run all the servers in one application.

You’ll no longer be able to connect by the port 8002, you now have to change it back to 9000, sorry for all this confusion, but yet again, this isn’t some kind of a large official server, so I may change anything at any time, but I’ll try not to break anything.

The port is 8002 again, sorry for the inconvenience!

More regions!

I just finished adding loads of regions, here they are:

Sorry for the random numbers on the bottom ones, I’m a moron, although, you can rename them!

Post in the comments or tell me what one or more of these regions should be called, be sure to include the number and what you want it to be.

Switched to MySQL

Since there wasn’t really that much stuff, I’ve switched to MySQL.

You now have to change the port 9000 to 8002.

And yes, this means we’re gonna have an actual registration screen and everything.

Should we switch to MySQL or not?

If I were to switch to mysql, everything we have right built on the regions now will be lost (except for inventory items), but it’d mean we’d have an easier to edit database and we could make registration systems and such.

If I’m gonna stick to SQLite, it’s all gonna remain as it is.

Up to you, luckily there aren’t many things built, but still.

Welcome to the page for our private server!

I just got this set up just now so it might be a bit unfinished, but I’m going to be working on it whenever I need to add or change something.

It’s really easy to join this server, just read the “How to join?” and “Register” pages right now for some instructions, and don’t worry, we’re gonna have a registration system up on this soon too.

There are also some free things and textures listed on the “Free Stuff” page.

Oh and, like on our minecraft page, we are in need of a good banner for this one too, it should be 780×200, the format doesn’t matter, but it should be related to our server somehow, something fancy and fitting with the design preferably.
